Yes, we know what you’re thinking: ProKnow sure has been doing a lot of plan studies recently. Maybe too many, you think.
Let’s talk about that for a minute.
First of all, it’s a good problem to have. It means that we have lots of clinical teams around the world approaching us to generate unbiased, objective data on plan quality and to compare methods, techniques, technologies, etc.
Second of all, it’s voluntary. We know you’re very busy and might not have time to contribute to every plan study. No problem! Do what you can. And even if you’re too busy to participate in a study, you can always sign in later to see the plan study results and to surf around the population statistics, high performer interviews, etc. Of course, to earn points in digital badging and to get accomplishments on your Achievement System record, you have to participate. But don’t let it ever stress you out or make you miss the ball game or the picnic with your kids 😉
Third, and most important, there is a lot we have to learn. A whole lot. And by “we” we mean all of us. We need to compare modalities. We need to share best practices. We need to audit new methods to see if they actually work or not. We need to help TPS vendors gain data to know how they’re doing. You get the point.
More than anything, we need to keep getting better. Knowledge and quality do not happen on their own. And they certainly don’t happen like some magic bullet in the form of yet another new, expensive device or algorithm. Knowledge and quality take effort and elbow grease.
Technology matters a lot. But skill matters more. And truth matters above all.
That’s why we’re here. That’s why we do this.
