If you use online services as much as we do here at ProKnow, you’ve probably been bombarded with several emails this month from those companies. That’s because, on May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will go into effect. The GDPR imposes new rules for companies that process EU citizens’ personal data and hefty maximum penalties for non-compliance. This month the companies that provide you with online services were making you aware of the updates they’ve made to comply with the GDPR and inform you of any change to their terms or privacy policies.
We’ve also been hard at work to provide more transparency and control in regards to the way we process your personal data, not just because of the GDPR, but because it’s the right thing to do. We know your privacy is important to you, and it’s important to us, too. Here is a list of the improvements we’ve made in the way we communicate information about how we use your personal data and new features we’ve introduced to give you more control over your personal data on ProKnowSystems.com.
- Email Preferences. We’ve always given you the ability to unsubscribe from our marketing communications at the bottom of any of our marketing emails. Now, however, we’ve added the ability to change your preferences so that you only get the emails for the topics in which you’re interested. For example, if you’re only interested in plan study announcements and the monthly digest, you can check those and uncheck the others. You can still find the link to update your preferences at the bottom of our email communications.
- Additional Information. Some personal information in your ProKnow profile is optional, like your mailing address, phone number, and AAMD information. We’ve improved the way we communicate which fields are required and which are optional. We’ve also made it easy to remove any optional information if you no longer wish to share it with us.
At the same time, we’ve also been making improvements to our authentication process – the manner in which you create a ProKnow account and sign in. We’ve put together a video that covers how to create a ProKnow account, sign in to your ProKnow account, and, as a brand new feature, enable two-factor authentication.
